On the value of Independents in democracy...

“The new politics is about representation of people and not so much party ideology.

There is a mood afoot that is questioning whether it is possible and necessary for democracy to be refreshed by the process of free debate and action in the interests of the public at both local and national levels.

Independent councillors, MP’s and cross benchers  are critical in pushing the boundaries of what this debate is about, and more importantly they are crucial in refreshing our democracy and reconnecting it with the interests of the people”

Victor has been Chief Executive of Turning Point since 2001 and has more than 25 years experience in the health, social care and housing sector. He has an MA in Advanced Organisational Consulting and has advised government of both Labour and Conservative administrations on various issues relating to the sector. In 2000, Victor was awarded the CBE for services. He was appointed as a cross bench peer in 2001.
